SET Plans
Year 9
All Year 9 students are required to complete a Senior Education and Training (SET) Plan with the school and their parents/carers. This plan outlines pathways for Years 10–12, is a legal requirement and takes place in Term 3 of Year 9.
At this meeting the QCE, ATAR, and ACC requirements are explained and the subjects for Years 10–12 are discussed and confirmed.
Students and their supervisors need to:
- Attend the Year 9 into 10 information afternoon
- Explore subject offerings by reading the Senior Handbook and watching the subject videos
- Complete and submit the SET Plan form
- Book and attend a SET Plan meeting with the Careers Advisor
While having a SET Plan is a legal requirement, the SET Plan document can be reviewed and updated if things change or a different pathway is required.
Senior School
Years 10-12
Students earn their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) through online subjects in Years 11 and 12. We also offer the Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA) for Years 10–12. Students can gain an ATAR and university placement, and can also complete certificates and VET (Vocational Education and Training) pathways.
Blend different pathways and subjects to match your ambitions.
ATAR Pathway
To be ATAR eligible a student must:
- Be enrolled in Units 3/4 in a minimum of 5 subjects in total
- At least 4 of them must be General Subjects
- One English — Literature, English or Applied English
- The fifth and sixth areas of learning may be Applied subjects or certificate courses. An ATAR is calculated on the student's 5 top subject results, so having six subjects is the best opportunity to achieve a good ATAR.
QCE Pathway
To be QCE eligible a student must achieve the following:
- Bank 20 credits, achieved by successful completion of all 4 Units of at least 5 subjects
- Have 12 completed core credits — successful completion of all 4 Units in at least 3 subjects, or a combination of subjects and a certificate course
- Literacy and Numeracy — achieved by passing at least 1 Unit of English and Maths
- Academic Integrity course in the MyQCE portal, completed by the end of Year 12
Students may include a VET course through TAFE or another Registered Training Organisation (offered externally) on their way to completion of their QCE.
