Parent Involvement

Because Learning Is
a Team Effort

Parent guiding their child through a learning task at home

At ACC Distance Education, we believe parents and carers play one of the most important roles in a child's education. In fact, it's not just something we encourage. It's something we build into the very heart of how learning works here.

When you enrol in Distance Education, you're not handing your child's learning over to a screen. You're joining a partnership. We'll walk alongside you with clear guidance, strong communication, and a deep commitment to seeing your child thrive academically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Your Role as an Onsite Supervisor

Every Distance Education student needs a Nominated Supervisor, most often a parent or guardian. This isn't about teaching every lesson from scratch. It's about being present, involved, and consistent.
As a Supervisor, you’ll:

  • Speaker Quieter

Set up a quiet, safe learning space at home

  • Calendar

Help your child build routines and manage their schedule

  • Speech Bubbles

Guide them through lesson instructions and learning tasks (especially in younger years)

  • File Upload

Submit work samples, photos, or videos to their teacher

  • Thumbs Up

Encourage them when learning feels hard, and celebrate when they succeed

You know your child better than anyone. We’re here to support you,
so that you can support them.

What Support Will I Receive?

We don’t expect you to have it all figured out on day one. That’s why we offer:

A dedicated Supervisor Orientation Course before learning begins

Ongoing support and training materials

Clear weekly learning plans that are easy to follow

Regular teacher feedback and checkpoints to track progress

Open communication through chat, email, and phone calls when needed

We also check in with new families in Term 1 to help set up a learning
environment that works, and to make sure you feel confident and supported.

Growing Together

In the early years (K–2), your involvement will be more hands-on, helping your child read instructions, stay focused, and engage with lessons. As students grow older, they become more independent, but your presence and encouragement remain just as important.

It’s often said that in K–2, children learn to read, and in Years 3–6, they read to learn. Through each stage, we work with you to help your child take steady, supported steps forward.

Real Learning, Real Life

Many families choose Distance Education because life looks a little different, whether due to lifestyle, location, health, or simply wanting a more personalised approach.

Our model is designed to work around your family's rhythms. You have the flexibility to set the pace, take breaks when needed, and learn in ways that make sense for your child without losing structure or direction.

Your involvement brings that flexibility to life.

You’re Not Doing
This Alone

You might not be in a school building, but you are absolutely part of a school community.

We’re ready to answer questions, check in, and walk this journey with you.

At ACC Marsden Park, we're here for your whole family. When home and school work together, learning becomes more than just content. It becomes character-building, faith-forming, and life-shaping.

Let's Walk Together.

If you’re considering Distance Education and wondering what it would look like for your family, we’d love to chat. Every family is different, and we’re here to help you make the best decision for yours.
